330140-08-20-12-05 | Bently Nevada 2.0 m 3300 XL 8 mm Probe

Bently Nevada 330140-08-20-12-05 is a 2.0 m 3300 XL 8 mm probe without armor, featuring a FluidLoc cable and CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals.

The Bently Nevada 330140-08-20-12-05 is a Probe and extension cable also for industrial control and automation applications.

When a compressor train in a petrochemical plant began showing erratic vibration readings, engineers traced the fault to oil wicking through a damaged probe cable. The Bently Nevada 330140-08-20-12-05 solves this exact problem. It is a 3300 XL 8 mm probe without armor, supplied with a FluidLoc cable that prevents oil and other liquids from leaking through the cable interior. The probe measures 2.0 meters (6.6 feet) in total length and carries CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals.

Key Specifications of the 330140-08-20-12-05

  • Total length: 2.0 meters (6.6 feet)
  • Probe diameter: 8 mm, without armor
  • Connector: Miniature coaxial ClickLoc, FluidLoc cable
  • Probe DC resistance: 7.88 ± 0.50 Ω from center conductor to outer conductor
  • Incremental Scale Factor: 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) ± 5% for the standard 5 or 1 meter system
  • Probe tip material: Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)
  • Probe case material: AISI 303 or 304 stainless steel
  • Operating temperature: -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F) for the standard probe
  • Agency approvals: CSA, ATEX, IECEx

The 8 mm design provides a thicker encapsulation of the probe coil in the molded PPS tip, resulting in a more rugged probe. The larger body diameter also gives a stronger case. Bently Nevada recommends 8 mm probes when possible for optimal robustness against physical abuse. The patented TipLoc molding method creates a robust bond between tip and body, while the CableLoc design provides 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to secure the cable and tip.

Why the FluidLoc Cable Matters for Reliability

Oil leakage through a probe cable can contaminate readings and force unplanned shutdowns. The FluidLoc option on this probe blocks that path. For maintenance teams, this means fewer false alarms and longer intervals between inspections. The probe also seals differential pressure between tip and case using a Viton O-ring, though Bently Nevada does not pressure-test probes before shipment. Note that exposing the probe to temperatures below -34°C (-30°F) may cause premature failure of the pressure seal.

Buyer Checklist Before Ordering

Verify that your system requires a 2.0-meter probe with a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector. Confirm the FluidLoc cable option is needed for oil-tight integrity.
